Crystal Mercedes is a dynamic and hardworking mother, wife, local dj and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated who has a passion for the arts culture. She has been fashionably spinning and creating the artistry of Runway Dj Style since 2008. Born and raised in the heart of Memphis, TN and later moving to Chattanooga, TN for college and developing her passion and dedication for music in Atlanta, Ga while interning at Radio One.
Self-made, one of the hardest working djs. Undeniably mixing the Dj scene up by styling a party atmosphere with variations of music & fashion elements that creates an element of a Runway show. Known for mixing the sounds of Hip Hop, R&B, Deep House, with mainstream Pop music, and just a little bit of Reggae and Rock. There is no limit to her music collection. Bringing a sexy style of djing by lighting the stage with her stylish attire and funky high heels. This is one dj who knows how to work them tables and rock a party all night. Spinning on Pioneer Controllers she has manage to bring her own style of mixing and scratching through self taught skills. Her mixing skills have been sought after by other noted retailers and companies including Memphis Fashion Week, Memphis Grizzlies, Sephora, Victoria Secret, Madewell, American Apparel, Macy’s, Loews Hotel and Microsoft. Mixed with mentor influences and dj styles such as: Dutty Laundry “The Game,” Dj Unc (Uncle Mike), Dj Tabone and Dj Princess Cut. Her first debut was in Chattanooga, TN at Club H2O, from that moment on she started to receive the support and respect she needed to get booked for more gigs. Now she is one of the most skillful and fashionable Female Djs that is moving forward in this male dominant field.
In 2015 Crystal returned back to her hometown Memphis to embark on something new. Becoming a GRAMMY Member and working in the arts and music scene.
Crystal was granted a unique opportunity to worked as the Studio Manager at 4U Recording, a state-of-the-art recording studio that is part of the Made in Memphis Entertainment (MIME) family of companies. In this role, she coordinated with artists, producers, managers, and labels to schedule recording sessions and ensured that each artist’s experience was memorable and welcoming.
Hosted the Recording Academy Writers’ Retreat in March 2019 and established relationships with major labels such as Interscope Records, Atlantic Records, and Columbia Records. In less than a year, she earned the studio its first Gold plaque for rapper Moneybagg Yo’s Time Served album, as well as a Platinum plaque for his single “All Dat (feat. Megan Thee Stallion).” 4U Recording also recorded portions of NLE Choppa’s Top Shotta album, which debuted in the Top 10 of the overall Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Other clients include Yo Gotti, Wess Morgan, Kirk Whalum, Jessica Reedy, Jozzy, Swae Lee, Lil Baby, and K. Michelle, as well as MIME Records artists Porcelan, Brandon Lewis, and Jessica Ray.
Currently, Crystal works as the Event Marketing Coordinator for the Memphis Grizzlies/FedExForum. In this role, she responsible for marketing all concerts, events and shows held at the FedExForum.
As a woman in the entertainment space, Crystal is dedicated to providing opportunities for others like her to learn and get involved in the recording and dj industry. She does this through mentoring local youth and in 2020 she co-founded the “SheDjs”, which helps mentors host workshops and meetups for female DJs.
